Jimmie McElroy's sound is a combination of his unique influences. Starting in elementary school, he became proficient on sax, flute and keyboards. While at Southern University Jazz Institute he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts to study with “Cannonball” Adderly. He subsequently played with Cannonball and Alvin Batiste accompanied by the New Orleans Symphony at the Louisianna Composers Symposium and appeared at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Jimmie also played with Oliver Nelson, Clark Terry, War, Gladys Knight, Stevie Nicks, Millie Jackson and Solomon Burke to name a few. He has also played for such events as the Annual Monterey Bay Blues Festival from 1996 to 2007.  The Videos page has highlights of the 2002, 2006 and 2007 performances.

After the release of his third and fourth albums “More Than I Can Bear” and “Trinity Church of God in Christ Choir” Jimmie took another step to advance his musical career by opening an official business in the State of Arizona in 2000. The Jimmie McElroy Productions recording studio has since produced 7 solo CDs entitled “Jimmie McElroy #1,” “Jimmie McElroy #2,” “Covers for Lovers,” “Jazzy Jams,” “Identity” “Gospel Sax,” and his latest “Jimmie McElroy Band #1. He continues to show a variety of styles while currently playing and recording in the Phoenix Metropolitan area with his new show band.

From soulful ballads to heartfelt pop and deep down-home blues, Jimmie displays his versatility while maintaining his personality with 40 years of professional experience.

Jimmie McElroy has completed the City of Phoenix Certification as a MBE and SBE.  Also completed the State of Arizona Certification Program as a Certified DBE.
